FAQ’S
I am thinking of hiring foreign workers. What should I do first?
The first step in helping you decide if hiring foreign workers is right for you is to assess your budgetary requirements. HRSDC requires the Employer to pay for the flight and health care costs of the foreign worker. This is not recoverable at this point in time. The large outlay of cash in the initial stage can be assessed as to it’s worth by a cost/benefit analysis. Note: Positions such as cooks and chefs are considered by HRDC to be skilled and are, therefore, required to pay their own airfare and healthcare.
It is important for you to keep proof of recent recruiting efforts by your company as these will be required should you decide to apply for foreign workers.
Why should I use a recruitment agent?
The benefits of using a recruitment agent are many. Debbie and Horaine have lived in

How does HRSDC decide if you can hire a
foreign worker?
The Foreign Worker Officer will base their decision on the information provided by you. The decision is based solely on labour market issues and the availability of Canadian of Permanent Resident Workers.
How long does the hiring process take?
Approximately 4 months.
What type of service can I expect from my recruiters
once my foreign workers are here?
Skilled Staffing Solutions will help coordinate the movement of the workers once they are here as well as assist with the travel arrangements; i.e. airfare contract negotiations. Once the workers are on property, they will be making visits during the season to ensure both the employer and employee are happy, as well as be available at any time should the need arise.
What types of positions can I expect to fill?
Any position can be applied for but approval depends on the labour market opinion. Generally the positions that are approved are: Housekeeping division, bellman, cooks (skilled), porters, stewards, servers, assistant servers, Chefs, front desk, maintenance, construction – labourers and skilled trades, manufacturing, landscaping, retail – all positions.
Can the worker bring his/her family?
The Canadian government’s policy towards low-skilled and high-skilled migrant workers is quite different. While high-skilled migrants are recruited for immigration through the High-Skilled Foreign Worker Permanent Resident Program and the Spousal Program (which provides work visas to the spouses of high-skilled foreign workers), low-skilled workers do not qualify for permanent residence and cannot bring their families with them.
